Opportunities for the NSR

The North Saskatchewan Regional Plan presents a significant environmental opportunity to move towards sustaining the quality of our air, water and land and the diversity of the flora and fauna living here. The regional plan should ensure that existing planning endeavours regarding environmental management are supported.  This includes important goals and outcomes as set out in the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance Integrated Watershed Management Plan(pdf).  Regional plans and related management frameworks should be working towards meeting existing goals focused on environmental sustainability.

The Environmental Law Centre has prepared a document outlining various environmental risks that should be confronted and dealt with in the regional plan and general approaches by which the plan could deal with these risks.

This document is meant to be iterative and adaptive.  As we learn more about the risks and opportunities the NSRP should be amended to reflect this.
