RAC advice, where art thou?

035771.jpg

Here we are in the middle of a provincial election and regional planning has been slow to move forward.

The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan had their last meeting several months ago and we have yet to see the advise they provided government. In the mean time we have a couple of indications that we may be in for a longer haul.

The government has indicated that regional planning will be slowed with a focus on existing plans. Further the Premier has indicated that the Alberta Land Stewardship Act will be reviewed.

What is next for regional planning and the North Saskatchewan region? Time will tell but my guess (and hope) is that opportunities will still be there to have a plan that supports environmental decision making. But as the Bard noted (in Henry VI) "Defer no time, delays have dangerous ends".
